The average import price for vegetables; celery (other than celeriac), fresh or chilleds stood at $2,004 per ton in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average import price increased by 77% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,057 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Guatemala ($2,013 per ton), while the price for the United States stood at $1,000 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (-0.4%).

The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nicaragua ($5,217 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($1,963 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nicaragua (+20.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
