Price for Zinc; Dust, Powders and Flakes in China (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average import price for zinc; dust, powders and flakeses amounted to $3,488 per ton, waning by -12% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 21% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,373 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($13,765 per ton), while the price for South Korea totaled $3,463 per ton.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+9.1%).

The average export price for zinc; dust, powders and flakeses stood at $4,104 per ton in June 2023, growing by 2.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 20% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $5,534 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Russia ($6,495 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($3,851 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the third consecutive year, China recorded decline in overseas purchases of zinc; dust, powders and flakeses, which decreased by -35.2% to 7.4K tons in 2022. In general, imports faced a sharp decrease. The smallest decline of -6.1% was in 2021.
In value terms, zinc; dust, powders and flakes imports declined markedly to $32M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt decline. The smallest decline of -3% was in 2021.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of zinc; dust, powders and flakeses, when their volume decreased by -1.3% to 1.1K tons. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +62.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 60%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 1.1K tons, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
In value terms, zinc; dust, powders and flakes exports amounted to $5.3M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 99%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
