Carrot and Turnip Production in Kuwait - 2022
After two years of decline, production of carrots and turnips increased by 9.8% to 475 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, production enjoyed a pronounced increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 122%. As a result, production attained the peak volume of 812 tons. From 2020 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure. Carrot and turnip output in Kuwait indicated moderate growth, which was largely conditioned by moderate growth of the harvested area and a mild expansion in yield figures.
In value terms, carrot and turnip production declined to $343K in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the production volume increased by 249%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $402K. From 2020 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.
Carrot and Turnip Harvested Area in Kuwait - 2022
In 2022, the total area harvested in terms of carrots and turnips production in Kuwait soared to 15 ha, rising by 15% against 2021. Overall, the total harvested area indicated a temperate expansion from 2017 to 2022: its figure increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last five-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, carrot and turnip harvested area decreased by -25.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 43%. In 2022, the average yield of carrots and turnips in Kuwait shrank modestly to 32 tons per ha, declining by -4.8% compared with 2021. Overall, the yield indicated modest growth from 2017 to 2022: its figure increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last five-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, carrot and turnip yield decreased by -22.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the yield increased by 55%. As a result, the yield reached the peak level of 41 tons per ha. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the average carrot and turnip yield remained at a lower figure.
