Cobalt Ore Production in Congo - 2022
In 2022, approx. 11M tons of cobalt ores were produced in Congo; which is down by -9.2% against the previous year's figure. The total output volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the period from 2017 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum volume at 12M tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, cobalt ore production rose to $163.3B in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 198%. Cobalt ore production peaked at $165.9B in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.
