Ferro-Silicon Production in Iceland - 2022

In 2022, the amount of ferro-silicon produced in Iceland declined to 114K tons, dropping by -11.7% compared with 2021 figures. In general, production showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the production volume increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak volume of 129K tons, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, ferro-silicon production contracted slightly to $127M in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production saw a mild decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the production volume increased by 19% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $167M. From 2019 to 2022, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.
