Quinoa Price in India (FOB) - 2023
In October 2023, the average quinoa export price amounted to $1,846 per ton, jumping by 20% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed modest growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 131% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,458 per ton. From March 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($7,219 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($1,408 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Dominican Republic (+22.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Quinoa Price in India (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average quinoa import price amounted to $2,176 per ton, jumping by 316% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The import price peaked at $5,968 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($2,236 per ton), while the price for Russia totaled $1,771 per ton.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (-6.4%).
Quinoa Exports in India
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of quinoa, when their volume decreased by -2.3% to 815 tons. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +45.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 33%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 834 tons, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
In value terms, quinoa exports soared to $1.6M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +70.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 36%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Quinoa Imports in India
In 2022, supplies from abroad of quinoa decreased by -23.5% to 45 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports faced a dramatic curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 119 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, quinoa imports skyrocketed to $98K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a precipitous setback.
