Quinoa Price in Switzerland (CIF) - 2023
In November 2023, the average quinoa import price amounted to $3,334 per ton, surging by 6.4% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated modest growth from December 2022 to November 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on November 2023 figures, quinoa import price increased by +6.4% against October 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 21% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4,626 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($5,838 per ton), while the price for Bolivia ($3,179 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Quinoa Price in Switzerland (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average quinoa export price amounted to $8,805 per ton, jumping by 48% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average export price increased by 62% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($9,471 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany totaled $8,779 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+10.6%).

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 39%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.4K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, quinoa imports declined to $3.5M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $4.9M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
