Refined Coconut Oil Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average refined coconut oil export price amounted to $1,923 per ton, with an increase of 1.6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.7% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $2,129 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Poland ($2,148 per ton) and Austria ($2,029 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($1,852 per ton) and Ukraine ($1,865 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Refined Coconut Oil Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
The average refined coconut oil import price stood at $2,233 per ton in June 2023, growing by 7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 37% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,888 per ton. From January 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($5,035 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($1,578 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Refined Coconut Oil Exports in the Netherlands
In 2022, shipments abroad of refined coconut (copra) oil decreased by -11.8% to 188K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 11%.
In value terms, refined coconut oil exports rose slightly to $383M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +74.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 46%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
