Refined Palm Oil Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average refined palm oil import price amounted to $1,104 per ton, surging by 5.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. The import price peaked at $1,420 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($1,411 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,049 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Colombia (-2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Refined Palm Oil Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average refined palm oil export price amounted to $1,535 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a mild decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 5.4% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,973 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Argentina ($2,331 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uruguay ($1,455 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Refined Palm Oil Imports in Brazil
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of refined palm oil decreased by -24.1% to 193K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 82% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 255K tons, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, refined palm oil imports rose sharply to $288M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 153% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
