Starch Manufacture Residues Price in the UK (CIF) - 2023
The average starch manufacture residues import price stood at $545 per ton in August 2023, dropping by -55.1% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 314% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,216 per ton in July 2023, and then dropped sharply in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($2,033 per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($235 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+22.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Starch Manufacture Residues Price in the UK (FOB) - 2023
The average starch manufacture residues export price stood at $248 per ton in August 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 82% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,237 per ton. From November 2022 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Ireland.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Ireland amounted to -4.6% per month.

In 2022, imports of residues of starch manufacture into the UK expanded slightly to 76K tons, growing by 4.9% on 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a drastic downturn.

Starch Manufacture Residues Exports in the UK
In 2022, overseas shipments of residues of starch manufacture decreased by -17.9% to 727 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 134% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 886 tons, and then fell notably in the following year.
In value terms, starch manufacture residues exports dropped to $366K in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated mild growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +74.8% against 2020 indices.
