Sugary Soft Drink Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
The average sugary soft drink export price stood at $1.3 per litre in July 2023, growing by 4% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1.3 per litre in May 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Norway ($1.8 per litre), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($784 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugary Soft Drink Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average sugary soft drink import price amounted to $1.4 per litre, falling by -4.2% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a temperate increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, sugary soft drink import price decreased by -11.6% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 55% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1.7 per litre in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2.1 per litre), while the price for Ireland ($666 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sugary Soft Drink Exports in the Netherlands
For the fourth consecutive year, the Netherlands recorded growth in shipments abroad of sugary soft drinks, which increased by 57% to 1.4B litres in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, sugary soft drink exports soared to $1.3B in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +23.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +86.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Sugary Soft Drink Imports in the Netherlands
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of sugary soft drinks decreased by -22.5% to 835M litres in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a moderate increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +13.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 44%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.1B litres, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, sugary soft drink imports rose to $674M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
