World Production of Super-Heated Water Boilers

In 2022, production of super-heated water boilers increased by 3.5% to 185K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total output volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the production volume increased by 26% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak volume of 204K tons. From 2017 to 2022, global production growth remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, super-heated water boiler production stood at $1.6B in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $1.7B. From 2017 to 2022, global production growth failed to regain momentum.

Production By Country

China (41K tons) constituted the country with the largest volume of super-heated water boiler production, comprising approx. 22% of total volume. Moreover, super-heated water boiler production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, the United States (20K tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (18K tons), with a 9.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume in China totaled +3.8%. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: the United States (+0.4% per year) and India (+3.3% per year).

Imports

World Imports of Super-Heated Water Boilers

In 2022, the amount of super-heated water boilers imported worldwide surged to 51K tons, jumping by 74% on 2021. In general, imports recorded a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 131% against the previous year. Global imports peaked at 68K tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, super-heated water boiler imports reduced modestly to $338M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +4.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 77%. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure at $545M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports By Country

South Africa prevails in imports structure, recording 30K tons, which was approx. 59% of total imports in 2022. Vietnam (4.2K tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Indonesia (3.8K tons). All these countries together held approx. 16% share of total imports. The following importers - Bangladesh (1.8K tons), Canada (1.7K tons), the UK (1.1K tons), France (0.9K tons) and Poland (0.8K tons) - together made up 12% of total imports.

South Africa was also the fastest-growing in terms of the super-heated water boilers imports, with a CAGR of +91.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bangladesh (+34.6%), Poland (+22.4%), Canada (+20.3%), Vietnam (+18.8%), Indonesia (+13.1%) and the UK (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, France (-13.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. South Africa (+59 p.p.), Vietnam (+5.9 p.p.), Indonesia (+4 p.p.), Bangladesh (+3.3 p.p.) and Canada (+2.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while France saw its share reduced by -9.8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest super-heated water boiler importing markets worldwide were South Africa ($96M), Vietnam ($84M) and Canada ($34M), together comprising 63% of global imports.

South Africa, with a CAGR of +76.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices By Country

The average super-heated water boiler import price stood at $6,594 per ton in 2022, which is down by -45.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 156% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $12,084 per ton, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($19,860 per ton), while South Africa ($3,157 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Exports

World Exports of Super-Heated Water Boilers

Global super-heated water boiler exports fell markedly to 8.8K tons in 2022, shrinking by -41.8% against the previous year. In general, exports continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 110% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs at 33K tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, super-heated water boiler exports reduced notably to $93M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 124%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $279M. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the global exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports By Country

In 2022, Germany (1,397 tons), China (1,001 tons), the United States (832 tons), Poland (650 tons), the Netherlands (579 tons), Italy (555 tons), Austria (516 tons), Spain (482 tons) and Turkey (378 tons) represented the largest exporter of super-heated water boilers in the world, generating 73% of total export. India (223 tons), Indonesia (209 tons), Denmark (194 tons) and South Korea (191 tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +78.1%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest super-heated water boiler supplying countries worldwide were Germany ($15M), Italy ($8.7M) and the United States ($8.1M), together accounting for 34% of global exports. Spain, Poland, Austria, China, Denmark, Turkey, South Korea, Indonesia, India and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.

Among the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +66.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices By Country

The average super-heated water boiler export price stood at $10,617 per ton in 2022, jumping by 44% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed pronounced growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 87% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $15,633 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($15,653 per ton), while the Netherlands ($1,417 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
