Urea Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average urea import price amounted to $387 per ton, growing by 8.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $638 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Algeria ($416 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($404 per ton), while the price for Venezuela ($316 per ton) and Russia ($367 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Algeria (-3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Urea Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
The average urea export price stood at $474 per ton in September 2023, waning by -65.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 201% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,375 per ton, and then shrank dramatically in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Chile ($490 per ton), while the average price for exports to Paraguay totaled $439 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Urea Imports in Brazil
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of urea decreased by -8.8% to 7.3M tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 31%.
In value terms, urea imports soared to $4.8B in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 73%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Urea Exports in Brazil
For the fourth year in a row, Brazil recorded growth in shipments abroad of urea, which increased by 160% to 73K tons in 2022. In general, exports showed significant growth. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
