Vegetable Product Price in Japan (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average vegetable product import price amounted to $6,353 per ton, shrinking by -4.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a mild setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 44% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $7,509 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($19,000 per ton), while the price for Chile ($2,657 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vegetable Product Price in Japan (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average vegetable product export price amounted to $21,982 per ton, falling by -31.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a slight slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 39% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $36,850 per ton. From May 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($51,561 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($7,556 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+11.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vegetable Product Imports in Japan
In 2022, approx. 7.3K tons of vegetable products were imported into Japan; picking up by 6.1% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
