Waxes; Artificial, Prepared Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average waxes; artificial, prepared import price amounted to $3,350 per ton, falling by -17.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,325 per ton. From April 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,303 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($990 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average waxes; artificial, prepared export price stood at $4,059 per ton in 2022, rising by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, waxes; artificial, prepared export price increased by +85.9% against 2015 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,917 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($2,811 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, waxes; artificial, prepared imports soared to $86M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +74.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
