Wire and Cable Price in Austria (CIF) - 2023
The average wire and cable import price stood at $8,352 per ton in June 2023, shrinking by -17.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 24% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $13,452 per ton. From January 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Romania ($23,305 per ton), while the price for Slovenia ($197 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wire and Cable Price in Austria (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average wire and cable export price amounted to $12,482 per ton, growing by 3.4% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 18% m-o-m. The export price peaked in June 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($21,240 per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($9,408 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wire and Cable Imports in Austria
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of insulated wire and cable, when their volume decreased by -16.6% to 229K tons. In general, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +28.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 33%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 275K tons, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
In value terms, wire and cable imports reduced to $2.2B in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +41.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $2.4B, and then contracted in the following year.
