Yoghurt Price in Kenya (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average yoghurt export price amounted to $2,789 per ton, reducing by -1.5% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, yoghurt export price increased by +17.0% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 47%. The export price peaked at $2,990 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Rwanda ($3,090 per ton), while the average price for exports to Somalia ($1,071 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tanzania (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Yoghurt Price in Kenya (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average yoghurt import price amounted to $1,865 per ton, falling by -3.6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 21%. The import price peaked at $1,935 per ton in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($3,704 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($375 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+17.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Yoghurt Exports in Kenya
In 2022, shipments abroad of yoghurt decreased by -5.8% to 108 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 378% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 116 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, yoghurt exports fell to $301K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 347%.
