For the seventh year in a row, the ASEAN electrical fuse market recorded decline in sales value, which decreased by -0.3% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 22%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, electrical fuse exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 22%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Thailand (X tons), distantly followed by the Philippines (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) were the largest exporters of electrical fuses, together comprising 95% of total exports. Malaysia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +11.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 5.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 19%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+4.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in ASEAN

Electrical fuse imports dropped to X tons in 2021, shrinking by -5% on the previous year. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 191% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Import price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, electrical fuse import price increased by +209.7% against 2013 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 91% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
