Based on 2022 figures, lamp holder export price increased by +38.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 25% against the previous year. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus stood at $X per ton.

Imports in CIS

In 2022, overseas purchases of lamp holders, plugs and sockets decreased by -13.3% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, lamp holder imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 74% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), generating an 8.9% share of total imports. Belarus (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons), Moldova (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of lamp holders, plugs and sockets. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+15.6%), Moldova (+11.0%), Belarus (+9.5%) and Kazakhstan (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +15.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kyrgyzstan (-5.4%) and Azerbaijan (-15.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+4.3 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+2.7 p.p.), Belarus (+2.7 p.p.) and Moldova (+2.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan saw its share reduced by -1.7%, -1.7% and -8% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lamp holders, plugs and sockets in the CIS, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 5.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 5.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia totaled +2.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+3.3% per year) and Belarus (+9.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 6.4% against the previous year. Import price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, lamp holder import price increased by +80.0% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 26%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
