There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Venezuela totaled $X per ton.

In 2021, overseas purchases of primary cells and primary batteries decreased by -45.2% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 58%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, battery imports contracted markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Panama (X tons), Spain (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of battery imports to Cuba, with a combined 89% share of total imports.
