In value terms, Russia ($X) also remains the largest crab and crab meat supplier in Eastern Europe.

Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, crab and crab meat imports contracted modestly to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports showed a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Lithuania represented the major importer of crabs and crab meat in Eastern Europe, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2023. Hungary (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the Czech Republic (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Poland (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total imports.

Lithuania was also the fastest-growing in terms of the crabs and crab meat imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, the Czech Republic (X%), Romania (X%), Bulgaria (X%), Ukraine (X%) and Poland (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Among the main importing countries, Lithuania, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2023, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, the import price showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
