In 2021, overseas shipments of electrical fuses were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 30%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, electrical fuse exports surged to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Hungary (X tons) was the major exporter of electrical fuses, achieving 45% of total exports. Poland (X tons) took a 17% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the Czech Republic (16%), Russia (6.9%), Bulgaria (5.5%) and Romania (4.6%).

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to electrical fuse exports from Hungary stood at +2.0%. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+17.0%), Romania (+14.1%), Bulgaria (+8.5%), Poland (+6.1%) and Russia (+4.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Czech Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of +17.0% from 2012-2021. The Czech Republic (+10 p.p.), Romania (+2.5 p.p.), Poland (+2.5 p.p.) and Bulgaria (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Hungary saw its share reduced by -9.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Hungary ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Poland ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 84% share of total exports. Romania, Bulgaria and Russia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.

Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +16.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 3.8% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 14% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+7.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

Electrical fuse imports skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, jumping by 24% on the previous year. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +76.0% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, electrical fuse imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +66.6% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the four major importers of electrical fuses, namely the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Romania, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), committing a 9.4% share of total imports. Slovakia (X tons) and Ukraine (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +12.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest electrical fuse importing markets in Eastern Europe were Poland ($X), Romania ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X), together accounting for 59% of total imports.

Poland, with a CAGR of +10.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per ton, surging by 2.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
