Mauritius (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Mauritius (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2023, the share of South Africa (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

Imports in SADC

For the third year in a row, SADC recorded decline in purchases abroad of calcium hydrogenorthophosphate (dicalcium phosphate), which decreased by X% to X tons in 2023. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, dicalcium phosphate imports dropped dramatically to $X in 2023. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2022, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

South Africa represented the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded X% of total imports. Tanzania (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Mozambique (X tons), Zimbabwe (X tons), Zambia (X tons) and Malawi (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total imports. Angola (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to dicalcium phosphate imports into South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Zimbabwe (X%), Angola (X%), Malawi (X%) and Mozambique (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
