The average cereals; millet, seed import price stood at $2,034 per ton in 2022, growing by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 296%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $4,227 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($7,603 per ton), while the price for Slovenia ($1,585 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of cereals; millet, seeds, when their volume decreased by -76.7% to 7.9 tons. In general, imports showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 212% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 34 tons, and then contracted notably in the following year.

In value terms, cereals; millet, seed imports fell notably to $16K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 277%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $54K, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
