Mandarin and Clementine Price in Hong Kong SAR (CIF) - 2023
The average mandarin and clementine import price stood at $1,588 per ton in June 2023, falling by -28.2% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated mild growth from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, mandarin and clementine import price decreased by -42.6% against February 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 46% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,767 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($14,111 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($1,262 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+17.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average mandarin and clementine export price stood at $1,418 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, mandarin and clementine export price decreased by -7.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 40%. The export price peaked at $1,540 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,430 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines totaled $1,322 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the amount of tangerines, mandarins, clementines, satsumas imported into Hong Kong SAR stood at 30K tons, remaining relatively unchanged against 2021.
