Mandarin and Clementine Price in Spain (FOB) - 2023
The average mandarin and clementine export price stood at $1,662 per ton in June 2023, which is down by -8.8% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a perceptible increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, mandarin and clementine export price decreased by -14.9% against April 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 38% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,953 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2,998 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($341 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+8.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average mandarin and clementine import price stood at $1,022 per ton in 2022, dropping by -10.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,306 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,861 per ton), while the price for Portugal ($827 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mandarin and Clementine Exports in Spain
For the third year in a row, Spain recorded decline in overseas shipments of tangerines, mandarins, clementines, satsumas, which decreased by -3.4% to 1.2M tons in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a pronounced decline. The smallest decline of -1.3% was in 2020.
In value terms, mandarin and clementine exports contracted to $1.6B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 16%.

Mandarin and Clementine Imports in Spain
In 2022, supplies from abroad of tangerines, mandarins, clementines, satsumas decreased by -37.3% to 30K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 94% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 48K tons, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, mandarin and clementine imports contracted notably to $31M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a strong expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 71% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $54M, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
