Mandarins Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average mandarins export price amounted to $1,390 per ton, with a decrease of -13.5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 27% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,893 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malta ($1,969 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($776 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Mandarins Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023

The average mandarins import price stood at $1,566 per ton in July 2023, dropping by -5% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 30% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,649 per ton in June 2023, and then shrank in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,026 per ton), while the price for Spain ($1,234 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Mandarins Exports in the Netherlands

In 2022, overseas shipments of fruit, edible decreased by -12.3% to 45K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 21%.

In value terms, mandarins exports fell notably to $69M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +48.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 39%.

Mandarins Imports in the Netherlands

In 2022, supplies from abroad of fruit, edible decreased by -0.4% to 51K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 61K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mandarins imports contracted to $68M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 34%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $76M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
