Melon Price in Ireland (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average melon import price amounted to $1,131 per ton, waning by -26.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 32% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,607 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,861 per ton), while the price for Spain ($974 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Melon Price in Ireland (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average melon export price amounted to $1,497 per ton, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,572 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
