Milled Rice Price in Morocco (CIF) - 2022

The average milled rice import price stood at $655 per ton in December 2022, declining by -8.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 an increase of 18% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $862 per ton. From July 2022 to December 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($909 per ton), while the price for India ($605 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average milled rice export price stood at $727 per ton in 2022, rising by 8.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 167%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,895 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Spain.

From 2013 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Spain amounted to +6.1% per year.

Milled Rice Imports in Morocco

In 2022, imports of semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice into Morocco stood at 55K tons, rising by 12% compared with the year before.
