Non-Liquid Margarine Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021

In December 2021, the average non-liquid margarine export price amounted to $1,629 per ton, with an increase of 7.8% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2021 an increase of 9.4% against the previous month. The export price peaked in December 2021.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2,142 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ghana ($1,222 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In December 2021, the average non-liquid margarine import price amounted to $1,957 per ton, surging by 7.1% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2021 when the average import price increased by 40% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,267 per ton. From February 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($3,721 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,737 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Non-Liquid Margarine Exports in Malaysia

In 2022, overseas shipments of non-liquid margarine were finally on the rise to reach 20K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage.
