Orange Price in Greece (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average orange export price amounted to $928 per ton, growing by 8.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a buoyant expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, orange export price increased by +59.7% against January 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 24% month-to-month. The export price peaked in August 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($2,139 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($391 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Orange Price in Greece (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average orange import price amounted to $590 per ton, which is down by -24.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 22%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $868 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,091 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($357 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Orange Exports in Greece
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of oranges decreased by -19.1% to 266K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year.
In value terms, orange exports contracted rapidly to $148M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -20.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 47%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $186M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Orange Imports in Greece
