Paddy Rice Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
The average paddy rice import price stood at $645 per ton in 2022, reducing by -2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 45% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $950 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Philippines amounted to -2.4% per year.
Paddy Rice Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
The average paddy rice export price stood at $501 per ton in 2022, which is down by -4.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 28% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $567 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($541 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines amounted to $456 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cambodia (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Paddy Rice Imports in Vietnam
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of paddy rice decreased by -3.2% to 32K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years.
