Price for Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in France (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified stood at $1,451 per ton in July 2023, declining by -7.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 26% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,552 per ton. From December 2022 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($9,442 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($1,130 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified stood at $1,578 per ton in 2022, falling by -10.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 50% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $2,113 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($3,757 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($730 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Luxembourg (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in France

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of citrus fruits not elsewhere classified decreased by -17.9% to 3.8K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 4.6K tons, and then dropped notably in the following year.

In value terms, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports contracted to $7.7M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +31.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 44%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $8.4M, and then fell in the following year.
