The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $4,970 per ton in November 2023, picking up by 2.1% against the previous month. Over the period from November 2022 to November 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 33% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $5,494 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($11,493 per ton), while the price for India ($2,219 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $8,369 per ton in October 2023, and then dropped modestly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($22,779 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($4,897 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
