Metal Gas Appliances Market Size in Europe

The Europe metal gas appliances market expanded significantly to $X in 2022, picking up by 6.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption saw a pronounced setback. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, shipments abroad of iron or steel gas domestic appliances increased by 33% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, exports recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, metal gas appliances exports reduced to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 37%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

Belarus was the major exporter of iron or steel gas domestic appliances in Europe, with the volume of exports reaching X units, which was near 36% of total exports in 2022. Poland (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Italy (X units), Spain (X units) and the Netherlands (X units). All these countries together held near 40% share of total exports. Germany (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Estonia (X units), Russia (X units), Greece (X units) and Portugal (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the iron or steel gas domestic appliances exports, with a CAGR of +190.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Russia (+39.8%), Poland (+30.6%), Spain (+14.2%), Portugal (+11.4%), Germany (+11.1%), Greece (+6.6%), the Czech Republic (+6.4%) and Italy (+3.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Estonia (-1.2%) and the Netherlands (-4.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Belarus, Poland, Russia and Spain increased by +36, +13, +2 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest metal gas appliances supplying countries in Europe were the Netherlands ($X), Spain ($X) and Italy ($X), together accounting for 53% of total exports. Germany, Poland, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Portugal, Russia and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.

Among the main exporting countries, Belarus, with a CAGR of +98.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -34.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 27% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Estonia (+14.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Europe

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of iron or steel gas domestic appliances, when their volume decreased by -3.3% to X units. Overall, imports, however, posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 91%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

In value terms, metal gas appliances imports dropped to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +51.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 60%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.

In 2022, Germany (X units), distantly followed by the UK (X units), Poland (X units), Spain (X units) and France (X units) were the largest importers of iron or steel gas domestic appliances, together creating 60% of total imports. Belarus (X units), Italy (X units), Sweden (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Romania (X units), Russia (X units), the Czech Republic (X units) and Slovakia (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belarus (with a CAGR of +45.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and Spain ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 48% of total imports. France, Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Russia, Slovakia, Romania and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +17.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Europe stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -4.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 36% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+6.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
