Cheese and Curd Price in Oman (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average cheese and curd import price amounted to $4,032 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 42% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,409 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($7,165 per ton), while the price for Germany ($2,397 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cheese and Curd Price in Oman (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average cheese and curd export price amounted to $2,446 per ton, surging by 1.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,297 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($10,316 per ton), while the average price for exports to Yemen ($2,022 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+15.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cheese and Curd Imports in Oman
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of cheese and curd decreased by -4.5% to 29K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 30K tons, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
In value terms, cheese and curd imports declined modestly to $116M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years.
