In 2022, the average import price for vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds amounted to $685 per ton, falling by -5.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 15%. The import price peaked at $879 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the Netherlands ($698 per ton) and France ($680 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($606 per ton) and the UK ($639 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (-0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds stood at $572 per ton in May 2023, surging by 180% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $860 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to May 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($791 per ton), while the average price for exports to Azerbaijan ($113 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+33.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Vegetables; Seed Potatoes, Fresh or Chilled in Turkey

In 2022, the amount of vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds imported into Turkey expanded modestly to 17K tons, picking up by 4.9% against 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 22K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imports of vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds dropped modestly to $12M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 25%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $16M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, exports of vegetables; seed potatoes, fresh or chilleds rose sharply to $1.2M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
