In December 2023, the average export price for cheese of all kinds, grated or powdered amounted to $4,407 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 9.3% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $4,717 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to December 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In December 2023, the countries with the highest prices were China ($4,574 per ton) and Australia ($4,469 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($3,873 per ton) and Malaysia ($3,884 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
